The project Lionserpolder is about doing research after the history of the landscape of a former march plain. Since ages farmers are using the remarkable formed plots for gras production. Nowadays Natuurmonumenten is managing the lower parts of the polder making them suitable for meadow birds like grutto’s. The higher parts are still used by farmers living in the direct neighbourhood.
Goal of this project is doing research after the irregular morphologie of the parcels in the polder. This blog wants to give you a visualisation of the interaction of making art and scientific research.
The Lionserpolder is situated in a triangle of the hamlets Lions, Baard and Jorwerd. About 15 kilometers south to Leeuwarden, Friesland, up in the north of the Netherlands. You can visited the polder yourself by walking the Jacobspad. A part of the famous pilgrimage to Santiago the Compostella crosses the polder. Signed by the symbol a shelf of Jacob.
